Superman and Batman took on New York's Finest last night in an epic Crossroads of the World battle that left the Caped Crusader in cuffs.
Stunned Times Square tourists and office workers watched agog as cops struggled to subdue Clark Kent's alter ego without kryptonite.
Things like this happen all of the time out here in Hollywood too. The costume characters are not required to have a licence and sometimes they'll fight over who has the right to be Superman or Chewbacca, etc. It's actually pretty finny to see.
This is pretty funny. I just feel bad for the kids who saw it and have to re-evaluate their opinion of Superman and Batman's powers. It's kinda like seeing Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny arrested.
Why couldn't they be dressed up as these two characters? What's wrong with that?
The article says they were panhandling and an officer asked for ID and the guy punched the officer....so I don't think they were arrested for dressing up...that was just a funny side note.
Out here the characters pose for pictures with the tourists and then ask them for money. Most of them are pretty nice, but some can get a bit testy if they don't get as much money as they ask for.
Here in Tokyo people dress up just for fun and love having their pic taken. They view asking for money cheap.
Even if the cause for requesting ID is fuzzy ["cops approached the dynamic duo on 43rd Street to see whether they had the required license to perform in costume in public, Frisoli said."] you don't respond by yelling at and then punching an officer. And who knows why his sidekick was cuffed and hauled off, too.
Sometimes you read a story and it just leaves you waiting a few weeks until the next issue is out to see how it continues.
After reading the full article, I think the cops over reacted in this case. It seems these folks were just having a little fun. There was no need to even brother them in the first place. Heck, the cops should have had their picture taken with them. All in good fun ya?
Wow, that's intresting...
I visit the Times Square area often, but I usually don't see stuff like that.
I wonder what Christian Bale's response to this is?
I wonder what Heath Ledger's response to this is?
[too soon? but who else could arrange a plot for two superheroes to be arrested in public but a supervillian?]
Seen yesterday in New York -- and no cops bothering him
