Many companies that have gone bust didn't die because of the recession. They failed for one reason: They treated customers poorly

I must agree they did treat customers poorly, but they never has up to date items in their stores, nor anyone who knew about them. The other problem was to many open box items missing half of the stuff that went with it.
Best buy did have better sale people, but their Geek tech. section was and still is very bad you want to talk about lack of knowledges they have it.

I think you're right on with critiquing their stock as well.
They aways seemed to remind me of how I feel when I walk into a 7-11 -- mostly filled with junk food and other quick fixes and ok if you're not being real picky, but worthless otherwise.
From the CD and DVD aisles to the TVs and cameras they're not a very 'complete' store, but had a few options. If you needed a new movie to watch you could find something, just don't go looking for *that* movie. Your DVD, TV, or digital camera break and you just need a new one? Great! Want to comparison shop up and down the Nikon Coolpix line or the your favorite stereo components brand -- don't expect more then one model per broad price segment and don't expect a bargain.
Best Buy [at least around my area] seems to do a better job at stocking a more complete lineup of items, but their service ultimately isn't much more informed.
On both these points BHPhoto kicks most retailers ass.
