Richter to Rick: Be Careful (Extended Web Edition)

Mike Richter eventually lost his career to the same injury Islanders star Rick DiPietro is suffering through right now, and the retired Ranger offered some heady advice yesterday from one goalie to another.

"My main advice to him would be to listen to himself," Richter told the Daily News. "Certainly, Ricky has responsibilities to both sides of the equation, and it's clear his absence has hurt the Islanders and their playoff chances. But it's most important for him to listen to what his body and his head are telling him, and only he knows what that is, compared to how he normally feels. Believe me, it's scary and confusing and defeating all at the same time.
