Look at the Willets Point parking lot and you can see the outline of Citi Field waiting to rise out of the ground. After years of delays and promises, the Mets will be getting a new park and Shea Stadium's days are certainly numbered.
Shea, though, will still have some memories intertwined in it before it closes, as the Mets will be competing for a World Series championship over the next two seasons. The primary tenants will probably do the retrospective on Shea in 2008 with ex-Mets coming back from over the years.
Yet, there is so much more the old building has seen besides baseball. Football was played there for 19 years and some of the biggest - and maybe most historic - rock concerts were held in Flushing. What is going to be done about those events?
Here are some things that could be done over the next two years, and why they probably won't happen.
