Former University of Minnesota gopher hockey player Phil Kessel has been diagnosed with testicular cancer, WCCO-TV's sister station in Boston, Mass. reported. Sources said Kessel is at Mass. General Hospital and was scheduled for surgery. He is said to be in good spirits.

This is certainly not the cause for Kessel's sidelining that fans wanted to hear. Prayers go out to him, his family and his teammates. Hope all goes well with his treatment.
Yah, there is definitely a lot that can go wrong. A friend of mine playing collegiate hockey was diagnosed with testicular cancer, and missed a year and a half because of complications from the operations.
