The New York Islanders will announce today that they have signed goalie Rick DiPietro to a 15-year, $67.5 million contract.

Islanders' owner Charles Wang, who was directly involved in the negotiations, had indicated that if DiPietro didn't sign by Friday, when the team opens training camp in Nova Scotia, that DiPietro would not play in the 2006-07 season.

Wang is absolutely bat@!$%# crazy! 15 years? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

God I love him, just when you thought things couldn't get any more rediculous over on the Island.

Wow, that is the stupidest move ever! The Islanders are stuck with him until he is 39 years old, and he has no financial incentive to play well.

I hope Rick gets his agent a nice thank-you gift.

holy crap, a 15 year contract? That is amazing. I didn't know about Magic or Gretzy's super long contracts before either. 21 year contract (Gretzky)? That is insane!

Wow must be nice to have that kind of financial stability as an athlete.. 15 years @ 4.5mil per.. damn I'm jealous.
